{"id":24762,"date":"2013-10-04T22:30:59","date_gmt":"2013-10-04T20:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.menzaprikoritu.org\/?p=24762"},"modified":"2021-11-26T23:24:19","modified_gmt":"2021-11-26T22:24:19","slug":"19th-international-festival-of-contemporary-arts-city-of-women-lets-create-a-place-for-ourselves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/menzaprikoritu.kudmreza.org\/?p=24762","title":{"rendered":"19th International Festival Of Contemporary Arts \u2013 City of Women \u2013 Let&#8217;s Create a Place for Ourselves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Katarina Juvan\u010di\u010d <\/strong>\u2013 singer-songwriter, music writer and music anthropologist \u2013 and<strong> Dejan Lapanja<\/strong> have worked as a duo since late 2009, when they attracted media attention with the folk-rock song <em><strong>Uej Uej (Magdalenca)<\/strong>,<\/em> which made it to the compilation of the Val 202 radioprogramme called Val 09: <strong>Imamo dobro glasbo (We have good music).<\/strong> In June 2010 and August 2012, they were awarded at Kanfest \u2013 the international singer-songwriter festival in Ru\u0161e. Katarina Juvan\u010di\u010d vests in music overlooked voices of women, bridging ethnography and poetry, modern trends and folk influences and sensibilities, but she is also no stranger to a more socially engaged poetics. Her rework of the American trade-union song <em><strong>Which Side Are You On?<\/strong><\/em> was sung at the winter protests in Ljubljana. Katarina&#8217;s stories and protagonists are subtly arranged by the versatile musician and producer <\/p>\n<p><strong>Dejan Lapanja<\/strong>, who learned the ropes in the legendary bands <strong>Olivija <\/strong>and <strong>Bast<\/strong>.
