Why not try be on some next level shit?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ta ogor\u010deni vzklik proti samozadostnostnem za\u010daranem krogu, v katerem se vrti ve\u010dji del dana\u0161nje produkcije elektronske glasbe, prihaja iz ust kanadskega producenta Dana Snaitha alias Manitobe, slovenski javnosti zaenkrat \u0161e premalo znane prvokategorne zvezde nove glasbe, ki je s svojo alternativno vizijo razvoja elektro-akusti\u010dne muzike navdu\u0161il svetovno glasbeno javnost do te mere da je njegov prvenec <em><strong>Start Breaking My Heart<\/strong><\/em> prakti\u010dno \u010dez no\u010d povzro\u010dil senzacijo na svetovni sceni nove glasbe in bil razgla\u0161en za elektronski album leta 2002 pri Canadian Independent Music Awards, hkrati pa mu je istega leta odprl pot na CMJ Festival v New Yorku in vlogo \u201cheadlinerja\u201d na najpomembnej\u0161em festivalu za novo glasbo \u2013 barcelonskem Sonar Festivalu. <\/p>\n<p>Njegov lanskoletni album <em><strong>Up In Flames<\/strong><\/em> je do\u017eivel histeri\u010dne odzive medijev &#8211; med drugim so zapisali:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA thing of beauty and wonder\u201d MUZIK<br \/>\n\u201cThe whole thing satisfy like no other record released this year\u201d X-RAY<br \/>\n\u201cBoth adventurous and accessible, a record in love with the obliterating power of sound\u201d UNCUT<br \/>\n\u201cA sprawling, bucolic tour de force, like early Mercury Rev on magic mushrooms\u201d ARENA<br \/>\n\u201cAlbum of the month\u201d JOCKEY SLUT<br \/>\n\u201cAlbum of the month\u201d LOADED<\/p>\n<p>Nevpadljivi 25-letni mladeni\u010d <strong>Dan Snaith<\/strong> iz Toronta preko dneva opravlja slu\u017ebo kot magister matematike, ko pade mrak, pa se Dan, sicer iz\u0161olani klasi\u010dni in jazz pianist, prelevi v producenta elektro-akusti\u010dne glasbe. Ni se treba ustra\u0161iti te\u017ee teh besed \u2013 edina rigorozno resna stvar pri Danu je njegov \u010duda\u0161ki smisel za humor, ki ga dolguje bolj svoji obsesiji s plo\u0161\u010dami obskurnega, smotanega hip-hopa, kot pa manevriranju z abstraktnimi matemati\u010dnimi teorijami.<\/p>\n<p>Prvi album \u201cStart breaking my heart\u201d (Leaf Label, London) je Dan zapolnil s toplimi, mavri\u010dnimi melodijami, poskakujo\u010dimi ritmi\u010dnimi vzorci in zvoki otro\u0161kega vri\u0161\u010da. Dan na albumu &#8211; raje kot da bi se poslu\u017eeval tujih samplov &#8211; igra kitare in klaviature in te osnovne elemente dopolnjuje z ra\u010dunalni\u0161kimi poigravanji. S tem ustvarja elektronsko-organske zvo\u010dne u\u010dinke izjemne intenzivnosti.<br \/>\nDana je med ustvarjanjem drugega dolgometra\u017eca vodil moto, ki se mu je izoblikoval v intenzivnem obdobju pre\u010desavanja elektronske glasbene scene po izdaji prvenca: \u201cIf there\u2019s anything that I\u2019ve learned after Start Breaking My Heart \u2013 it\u2019s that I don\u2019t give a shit about electronic music!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>V tak\u0161nem razpolo\u017eenju je leta 2003 nastal album \u201cUp In Flames\u201d (Leaf Label).<br \/>\nDan Snaith je ta album sicer naredil z isto, relativno skromno ra\u010dunalni\u0161ko opremo, poleg kitare in klaviatur pa tu igra \u0161e na glockspiel (sorodnik vibrafona).<\/p>\n<p>Ampak! Novi album zveni krepko druga\u010de \u2013 \u010dudovito kalejdoskopsko valovanje soni\u010dnih melodij, neubranljivo nalezljivi, mastni beati in morje zvokov iz vsakdanjega \u017eivljenja \u2013 od budilk, \u010dri\u010dkov, pasjega laje\u017ea, zvokov ulice \u2013 kljub temu pa zvo\u010dno morje nikoli ne prestopi bregov \u2013 vse je genialno in duhovito plasirano na u\u010dinkovita mesta v zvo\u010dni celoti. Dan Snaith dejansko komponira skladbe in se \u0161e zdale\u010d ne zadovolji s tla\u010denjem kupov zvokov v ProTools-ih.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to do an album of wicked pop songs with textures, layers and weird instruments. I make music totally by ear, just by fucking around and experimenting. It couldn\u2019t be less systematic and organised. When it\u2019s sloppy and messy, that\u2019s how I like it. Well, that will happen if you spend enough time soaking in albums by My Bloody Valentine, Spaceman 3, Mercury Rev, The Beach Boys, Neutral Milk Hotel and psychedelic rockers like The Byrds and The End.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>V \u017eivo Manitoba ni ve\u010d solo laptop enota, temve\u010d se je razcvetel v polnokrvno, z oljem podmazano koncertno ma\u0161ino. Manitoba band sestavljata \u0161e dva kanadska multiinstumentalista, ki si na odru skupaj z Danom izmenjavata kitare, dva seta bobnov, klaviature, glockspiel in \u0161e kup manj\u0161ih in\u0161trumentov.
