Their music is a furies and beautiful combination of freely improvised melodies and short compositions, all wrapped up in acoustic free jazz aesthetics. K\u00fcchen\u00b4s raw and intensive tone along with \u00c4lklint\u00b4s distinguished trombone joins up with three likeminded Norwegians with the same passion for music made in the moment. He\u00b4s direct and ruthless approach is filled with musical sincerity and honesty. Frequent collaborations with <strong>Keith Rowe, John Tilbury, Phil Minton, Mark Sanders, Burkhard Beins, Andrea Neumann, Tony Bevan<\/strong> and <strong>Joe Williamson<\/strong>. His own sextet Angles has also been given a lot of attention lately.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thomas Johansson \u2013 trumpet<\/strong><br \/>\nFull throttle trumpeter Thomas Johansson is worth checking out. Known for his bursting energy and raw sound, he\u00b4s one of many new interesting improvisers in Norway at the moment. Thomas is dedicating most of his time to his quartet <strong>Cortex <\/strong>consisting of <strong>Kristoffer Alberts<\/strong> (reeds), <strong>Ole H\u00f8yer<\/strong> (bass) and <strong>Gard Nilssen<\/strong> (drums).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mats \u00c4leklint \u2013 trombone<\/strong><br \/>\nStockholm-based trombonist Mats \u00c4leklint is starting to become a frequently used player throughout Scandinavia and the rest of Europe. His powerful and lyrical style is quite unique. Mats have for the past years been working with musicians and projects like <strong>Dave Holland, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Angles, The Thing XXL, Per-Henrik Wallin<\/strong>, and many others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jon Rune Str\u00f8m \u2013 double bass<\/strong><br \/>\nJon Rune Str\u00f8m is one of the new leading bass voices of Norwegian jazz and impro. Known as an extreme high-energy free player with extraordinary stamina, he&#8217;s leant his bass muscle to both straight ahead jazz projects as well as free improvised settings such as Frode Gjerstad&#8217;s trio with drummer Paal Nilssen-Love. Jon Rune is also working with other known improvisers including <strong>Mats Gustafsson, Ken Vandermark, Steve Swell <\/strong>and <strong>Raymond Strid.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tollef \u00d8stvang \u2013 drums<\/strong><br \/>\nTollef \u00d8stvang is a new upcoming Norwegian improviser. He\u00b4s old school drum sound mixed with an endless curiosity for spontaneous music making results in an energetic style filled with warmth and depth.
