In summer 2011 the band Swedenborg Raum evolved at first from easy gatherings of three musicians. Axel (drums), Ben (bass-guitar) and Flo (guitar) shared the desire while jam-sessions and were interested in developing a new project together, because all participated in former bands:
Ben played in bands as Pace Of Hearse, Hells Peanuts and Clemens Jungbauer & Band as bassist and also guitarist. In the latter band he met Axel, who gained experience at Flashback and Branded Man before. Also Flo was member of various bands and projects, e.g. Onyx, Ismael or Absolutist. Aside from this he always worked on his solo project named Xeming.
Expeditiously the first songs were developed, in which the styles of them different former activities merged together. This means a combination of Blues, Jazz over Stoner-, Space-, Psychedelic- and Prog-Rock to even Metal and Doom. Especially the mixture of the diverse elements borrowed from the different genres fascinates the band and still takes them to more higher levels.
The Name Swedenborg Raum comes from a experimental series ‘The Kingdom’, produced by Lars von Trier in the early 90’s. The room – which is part of the story – describes the space between life and afterlife. Firstly the Swedish philosopher Emanuel Swedenborg wrote about this phenomenon in the beginning of the 18th century. In the sphere of this ‘in-between’ shall it come to the decision about a good or evil disposition in the afterlife.
